Cheap Hosting Features

Posted by admin on Sunday, 1 May, 2011

Looking for cheap hosting plans and deals is a task burdened by a huge array of offers from various web-hosting companies, many of which provide similar features and services. Finding the right one at an affordable price should be the main goal for anyone looking to have his or her website hosted.

Most web hosting companies offer an array of features, which are usually determined by the quality of each package being offered; the more you pay, the greater number of features you will have. These include disk space, with many companies offering around 5 gigabytes of data on regular deals, while more premium deals can expand to upwards of 50 gigabytes or unlimited storage. Email storage with most companies is generally unlimited, while monthly transfer space can range from 25 gigabytes of data, upward to unlimited plans.

Many companies offer persuasive start-up plans, offering free domain names for one year, unlimited domain add-ons, spam protection, unlimited sub domains, unlimited park domains and FTP access, just to name a few.

Shared Hosting Is Not VPS Hosting

When you have a shared hosting account, there might be hundreds of users sharing this server with you.  There might be only one of those users that will do something with a complicated application or script and the entire server could go down.  You are stuck with that problem for as long as it takes to get it back up.

How long might that take?  It could be several minutes or it might take several hours depending on what happened, how much re-booting it is going to take and when it happened.  That is a long time when you have costly web pages sitting out there not making you any money and not capturing any e-mails that you need.  Those would-be visitors will go away, many of them not coming back.

A shared hosting situation is one that many people use because maybe they don’t know that there is a better way, such as VPS hosting.  Many of their favorite hosting companies don’t tell them about it or they don’t look at the web sites and find out.
